Two blokes are in the clink after a stash of ice hidden in a car transmission from Germany was nabbed by the Australian Border Force. ABF officers kicked down a shipping container in Sydney on July 27 and found five plastic bags packed with meth. The AFP replaced the drugs with an inert substance and set up a controlled delivery to Girraween, west of Sydney.
On August 6, a 41-year-old Oatlands man and an 18-year-old Fairfield Heights kid were caught red-handed trying to collect the stash. The older bloke copped a charge for importing a commercial quantity of methamphetamine, while both were hit with charges for attempting to possess it.
AFP Detective Superintendent Morgen Blunden reckons these criminal groups are all about the dough but couldn't care less about the havoc they cause in Aussie communities. ABF Superintendent Asha Patwardhan added that their tech and intel are always one step ahead of the smugglers’ tricks.
