GUN RUNNER GRABBED: South Florida Man Pleads Guilty to Smuggling 140 Firearms to Haiti

· πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ USA · 2026-08-05 · 1 min read

Jean Robert Casimir, a 53-year-old Lauderhill resident and former Haitian National Police officer, copped a plea in U.S. District Court today 🚧. The charge? Conspiracy and smuggling violations for shipping at least 140 firearms to Haiti since 2020 without the proper license.

The Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) got wind of Casimir's operation, which involved some serious MacGyver-level creativity πŸ€”. He and his crew used industrial air compressors, cutting them open to hide disassembled rifles and handguns packed in foam insulation, then welded 'em back together and shipped the packages to Haiti via boats out of Miami. Casimir was popped on Dec. 16, 2024, and indicted a month later. The feds are making it clear: this case is part of their mission to take down criminal cartels and traffickers who fuel violence both here and abroad.
