Shaun Smith thought he was smooth, bruv. Walks into a factory in Tamworth with a crew, loads up with £300k of copper, and thinks he's got away clean. Little did he know his DNA was all over the place. CCTV caught him loadin' up, but it was his own genetic fingerprint that rumbled him.
Smith, 35 from Wolverhampton, tried to play it cool, but the feds had enough on him. He copped to burglary and theft, and now he's doin' three years and two months at Stafford Crown Court. Detective Sergeant Claire Rider didn't mince words: 'Theft of this magnitude hits hard. We're comin' after anyone involved.'
So much for the big score. Smith's accomplices are still on the loose, but the old bill is hot on their trail. Looks like his career as a copper kingpin was short-lived.
