WOMAN BATTERED BY GANG WITH BASEBALL BAT IN ST HELENS

A woman in her 30s was attacked with a baseball bat by a gang of thugs in St Helens early Saturday morning. The assault took place around 2am on June 20th near Ashcroft Street in Parr. She fled to Ashcroft Service Station for help but was attacked again. The victim suffered facial injuries, swelling, and leg wounds. Police have issued a CCTV image of suspects at the service station and are appealing for witnesses. Detective Inspector Leanne Toole said, 'This was an awful attack. We’re exploring all lines of enquiry and need anyone with information to come forward.'
