canada's most armed ex-politician? former manitoba mp dinged with 439 firearms πΏ
The boys in Dauphin, Manitoba, kicked down the door of Inky Mark, a former federal politician, and seized a massive arsenal. The haul: 439 firearms, an antique cannon, and $300,000 in cash. Mark, who served as MP from 1997 to 2010, is now facing multiple charges, including firearms trafficking and unsafe storage. πΏ
RCMP Cpl. Barry Kirby said the investigation will take weeks to sort out the details, but they already know at least three of the weapons were illegally trafficked. βYou can collect as many guns as you want, legally,β Kirby noted. βBut when it turns into trafficking and unsafe storage, thatβs where it gets sketchy.β
The case started with a 73-year-old Dauphin man facing U.S. firearms charges. The RCMP followed the trail and found more illegal weapons at Mark's place. Scott McMurchy, commanding officer of Manitoba RCMP, emphasized the danger: βThese unregistered guns can fuel violence and support organized crime. Weβre here to keep our communities safe.β
