The boys down at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) ain't playin' around. On May 23, they nabbed two individuals trying to sneak a motorhome full of prohibited firearms and drugs into Canada through the Lansdowne port of entry. Daniel Sargent (59) from Virginia and Danette Garrelts (56) from California were dinged with a laundry list of charges after admitting to having a firearm in the motorhome. A deeper search turned up eight firearms, 13 magazines, 1,500 rounds of ammo, and personal amounts of cocaine, psilocybin, and cannabis. The duo's to-do list now includes facing charges for failing to report goods, making false statements, smuggling, possession of controlled substances, careless transportation of a firearm, unauthorized possession, and more. They’re in custody and set to appear in court on July 31, 2026. "CBSA’s border services officers are the first line of defence against prohibited firearms," said Jag Johnston, Regional Director General. "This bust shows we mean business when it comes to keeping Canadians safe."
