The boys in blue pulled off a major takedown in Moncton last week. On July 30, the Codiac Regional Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), General Investigation Section (GIS), and the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) cornered 28-year-old Joshua Mabie in downtown Moncton. The high-risk offender was wanted for an incident on June 1 where he reportedly pointed a firearm at someone.
Mabie’s arrest came after careful planning and coordination, with air support swooping in to ensure everything went smoothly. He’s now facing multiple charges: assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, carrying a weapon for an offence, possession of a restricted firearm without a licence, and possession of a restricted weapon while prohibited.
‘Every effort was made to protect the public,’ says Cpl. Hans Ouellette. The significant police presence raised some eyebrows in the neighbourhood, but the community stayed patient and cooperative. Mabie’s next court date is set for August 21.
