The boys kicked down doors and seized nearly 1.7 tonnes of illegal drugs in one of the biggest busts Ontario's ever seen, eh. Project Bay, a multi-agency op led by the Windsor Police Service (WPS), nabbed a whopping haul: 973 kg of suspected cocaine, 660 kg of methamphetamine, and 49 kg of opium. The street value? Over $139 million.
Search warrants swooped on 21 suspects across Windsor, Corunna, LaSalle, Brampton, Kleinburg, Markham, Caledon, and more. The crew was using a broker-style model to smuggle drugs through legit supply chains. They even had an anti-tank rifle among the 17 seized firearms.
"This seizure reflects the scale of criminal activity that crosses borders and impacts communities across Ontario," said OPP Chief Superintendent Mike Stoddart. "By removing more than a metric tonne of illegal drugs and multiple firearms, we've significantly disrupted the flow of harmful substances and prevented community harm."
